Tata Power SED's design and development facility is located in Mumbai. The manufacturing facility is located at Bangalore.

The high-tech nature of the development work requires SED to have a state-of-the-art development environment. The Development environment comprises high-end PCs and SPARC workstations. Extensive use is made of CASE and various testing and debugging tools. Languages supported include C, C++ and Visual C.

Real-time Operating Systems in which SED has considerable expertise include VxWorks, pSOS, VRTX, Versa DOS and iRMX. Other Operating Systems which have featured in the products include Unix (and its versions), Solaris, Linux, Windows 98 and Windows NT.

Tata Power SED has also implemented the latest Communications infrastructure with dedicated and secure links between Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad

Through the deployment of networked support systems for Configuration Management and an integrated division-wide ERP, traceability of every single hardware and software component throughout the program life cycle is maintained.
